Common doorstep scams include rogue traders claiming urgent roof, driveway, or gutter repairs are needed; bogus officials pretending to represent utilities, councils, banks, or the police; and strangers using hard-luck stories to gain entry to the home. These situations are deliberately designed to catch people off guard, create confusion, and push them into acting quickly before they have time to verify who is at the door.
